Joining the RSCM Millennium Youth Choir

Becoming a member

Membership of the Millennium Youth Choir is open to singers aged between 16 and 23 years of age. Entry is by audition - you will need to bring a piece to sing, and prior to the audition you will be sent a psalm to prepare. You will also be asked to sing a short piece at sight.

How much does it cost?

There is no audition fee, but if you are offered a place in the choir there is a joining fee of £40 which covers administration costs. Course fees vary and we work hard to keep them as low as possible - the Easter course fee is around £240, the Summer Course £460-£480 and the Autumn weekend around £100. Fees vary depending on where the accommodation is, how much travelling is required during the course and other factors. The RSCM awards a number of bursaries on the basis of need to singers to help with the cost of the course - click on 'bursaries' on the left for a link to the downloadable application form.

How many courses do I need to attend?

Many singers attend all three courses each year, but we understand that other commitments mean that full attendance is not always possible. In order to get the most out of being in the choir and to keep up with the repertoire, attendance on at least two courses each year is encouraged.
