Come and Sing with David at St George’s

Saturday 21st January 2012 Join David, members of the City of Bristol Choir, live band and fellow fans of the musicals for an unashamedly indulgent day of singing the blockbusting hits from Grease, The Lion King, Glee and other spectacular shows, culminating in a grand (but very informal) showcase performance.

New commission premiered

David was commissioned to write a piece celebrating the Sheldon Singers’ 25th anniversary. His 3-movement work, Angels, set the words ‘Angel voices ever singing’, ‘Immortal, invisible’, and ‘Angels from the realms of glory’, is scored for SATB choir and brass ensemble. The premiere was given in Honiton on Saturday 17th December 2011.

Westbury-on-Trym Parish Choir CD released: All Times and Seasons

Thursday 15th December 2011 Westbury-on-Trym Parish Choir’s CD is released today and includes David’s anthems Christ has no body now but yours; Faith, hope and love; and I see his blood. The CD was recorded in St Augustine’s Chapel at St Monica’s Trust in Bristol in October and features a collection of anthems, carols, hymns and songs from throughout the church’s year from Advent to Christ the King. CDs are on sale online at the church’s website

Carols by Candlelight at St James Priory

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th December 2011 at 7.45pm Exultate Singers’ first Carols by Candlelight concert back in St James Priory following its £4.4 million restoration proved so popular that the choir announced an extra date. The concert on Wednesday 14th December is sold out but there will be an additional concert held on Tuesday 13th December. A right royal Bristol Song

David’s composition, with words by Anna Farthing and Eugene Byrne, will receive a royal audience when it is sung at Bristol’s M Shed museum on 14th December 2011. The Princess Royal will officially open Bristol’s new museum when she visits the city next month. The Bristol Song was written for the opening of the M Shed in June, and was sung by a choir of over 150 children from primary schools all over Bristol, who will be getting together again to sing to the princess.

Christmas Spectaculars with The Bristol Ensemble

Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd December 2011 at 7.45pm Two glorious evenings of Christmas celebration conducted by David Ogden. The Bristol Ensemble is joined by City of Bristol Choir on Wednesday and Exultate Singers on Thursday for a festive-themed extravaganza of warmth, passion and bonhomie. With Christmas music, audience carols and seasonal readings, this is a uniquely moving mixture of revelry and reverence.
